Coen Bros. Casting for True Grit in LR

Hopefully with the several connections to Arkansas including the author being from the state, the Brothers will have some success finding a “simple, tough as nails, young woman in post-Civil War Arkansas.” An open casting call will be held at the Peabody all day Saturday December 19 from 10 am to 5pm.

PARAMOUNT PICTURES IS SEEKING:
12-16 YEAR OLD GIRLS
FOR THE LEAD IN A NEW COEN BROS FEATURE FILM
“TRUE GRIT”
SHOOTING SPRING 2010.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

SEEKING GIRLS FOR THE ROLE OF “MATTIE ROSS”:
14 year old Mattie is a simple, tough as nails young woman. Her
steely nerves and straightforward manner are a shocking contrast to
the way women behaved in the early century. She's possessed of
true grit and plenty of determination. Enough so, that she insists
on going with 2 marshals to hunt down the killer of her father.

We are looking for a girl who’s tough, strong and tells it like it is.
We are open to all looks!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19th, 2009
10:00am- 5:30pm

Filmmaker Brant Collins in Studio

brantc

@camsontheradio have been following Brant on twitter for quite some time as well as being familiar with his ambitious 48 Hour Films. We are very excited to have Brant in studio with us on the 15th. We're also hoping to do a live tutorial on some technology that Brant knows loads more about than us. Be sure to check out his site www.stationx.tv and our livestream page for any videos we post before the show.

Cameras on the Radio T-Shirts

orson

Please buy some shirts and support yoru local film radio. Does anyone you know own a shirt with Orson Welles on the front? I doubt it. The shirt is based on a bumper we did for the show with Orson Welles saying that his favorite radio show about film is COTR so trust him and buy the Tshirt on mysoti.com.

David Bogard's new film "Irene"

We're very excited to have director/writer David Bogard and DP Gabe Mayhan in the Studio on the 1st of November. I didn't know much about the film at first after seeing the post on getafilmcrew.com but after hearing the synopsis and photos I'm stoked.

Here's the synopsis and crew listing from Mr. Bogard:

"Irene" is the story of a lonely girl who works in a run-down used furniture store, and suffers from debilitating physical, and emotional illnesses. She is self-described as a 40 year old "plain, unattractive woman who has never had a serious date in her life" and who "scares the crap out of men by having seizures at the most inopportune times." To make up for her lack of love in reality, she engages in anonymous phone sex in the evenings. While working in the store, Irene finds a mutual attraction in Stephen, a divinity student, and love seems to have blossomed for her. However, having finally found a man who is interested in her, unexpected revelations bring her new-found happiness crashing down upon her with disastrous consequences.

Our cast consists of: Irene- Kathryn Pryor; Gail, Irene's mom-Judy Trice; Sam Johnson, Store Owner-Tom McLeod; Stephen-Jeremy Day; Store patron-Apple Kahler. Stranger on Street-Keith Lewis; Car driver-Gil Franklin.

Movieoke is the new Kareoke

I just read an article about this new craze, maybe it's not new, but we will be doing this with the Little Rock Film Festival soon, trust me. For those not in-the-know like me, movieoke is where people voice scenes to movies with the sound off and subtitles turned on. So two people get on the stage and do basically karaoke of a scene from a film. I've looked on youtube and have found some clips that are just awesome. Comment on the blog which movies you would like to see done and we'll make it happen.

They also have Reservoir Dogs and Groundhogs day on their youtube channel

SAU Tech does HSFF

Everyone here at Cameras on the Radio knows what it's like to document a film festival, it's a lot of freakin work but Steve T aylor's crew at SAU Tech make it look easy and they got really great audio too which we might put on the show tonight.

LRFF New Website

The "New" Little Rock Film Festival website has been revamped and it looks amazing. The structure and navigation is so much better and there's lots of room for content. Plus we have a banner at the bottom. So we're returning the favor and giving our sponsor a part of our site because LRFF is now taking film submissions. Hurry up and submit your films for 2010 Little Rock Film Festival.
